Bowland's farmland and moorland attracts a wide variety of birdlife including wading birds such as lapwings, snipe and curlews and Britain's most endangered bird of prey, the hen harrier. The Fowest of Bowland Fells are home to some 50% of the most successful hen harrier nests found in Britain. We have a specially constructed hide available for bird watching that looks out over a field in which curlews and lapwings nest during the spring time. Whilst the farmhouse does not offer disabled facilities, a 'Tramper' route links us to Cobble Hey Gardens and the network of local footpaths, a permissive Bridal path is also available through part of the farm which is involved with the Counrtyside Stewardship Schemes run by Natural England, this involves planting hedges and fences, renewing stone walls and creating scrapes for the nesting bird.
