They look like they’ve been here for a couple of hundred years,
...but feature all the mod cons...
and ooze country charm.
Egyptian linen and towels. Each cottage has been individually designed and furnished with modern living in mind. (There really is everything you might need to make your perfect home from home.) Whether it's for just a few days, or a few weeks, self indulgent sanctuary or activity'`packed holiday base you are sure to find just what you are looking for. Relax in real comfort. The cottages feature bespoke kitchens, contemporary bathrooms and spacious bedrooms, thoughtfully furnished with the comfiest of sofas and easiest of chairs. For the hands on home makers Clitheroe has all the specialist shopping you could wish for. From farmers markets to the more established Cowman's famous sausage shop and the multi award winning Byrne's wine merchants. For the more hands-off, there's the Waddington Arms, our sister business just down the lane. We use all the same shops and even the same wine merchants but at the Waddington Arms we do all the rest for you. We take the '˜self' out of self catering.
But that is only half the story. With three pubs, two churches, a post office, a cricket pitch and a bowling green, not to mention a school and playground to its name Waddington is the very model of a thriving rural community. Waddington sits very comfortably in the lower reaches of the Forest of Bowland area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a landscape of stunning scenery and changing moods, wild heather moorlands criss-crossed by deep, lush river valleys and dotted with charming unspoilt villages. Whether it's walking, fishing, cycling, mountain biking, bird watching, shooting or simply relaxing there are fewer places to be. The Forest of Bowland is one of Mother Nature's most beautiful and best equipped playgrounds. The Historic Market town of Clitheroe is just a mile and a half away. Dominated by its castle and somewhat battered Norman Keep the town has somehow managed to avoid the worst ravages of commercial development and maintained a truly unique atmosphere. There are lots of specialist shops with interesting names that can cater to almost every whim. Clitheroe is also home to another of our ventures. The Emporium, a big old Methodist chapel that has been converted into an interior design superstore and a rather interesting coffee shop, wine bar and brasserie.
