Carnforth Station Visitor Centre is most certainly worth a visit. Rich in history step back in time and explore a wealth of attractions, facilities and exhibitions. The famous film "Brief Encounter" was filmed here, this fascinating exhibition is dedicated to the classic movie. To commemorate Carnforth's contribution to the first and second world war visitors must visit the Albert Halton Room. There are also many displays which explore the social history of Carnforth residents as well as the railway itself.
A visit to the station would not be complete without seeing the famous Carnforth Station Clock which also featured in Brief Encounter. Head to the the refreshment room for a light snack named after the film. It has been faithfully restored to resemble the set used in the film where Laura and Alec first met. The Visitor Centre is all on one level, and is totally wheelchair accessible. The Centre can also cater for coach parties and group visits - booking in advance is helpful.
