Blackpool Campsites and Campsites in Lancashire
Blackpool campsites, holiday parks and caravan holidays in their various forms, offer the opportunity to bring your own accommodation, usually in the form of a caravan, or to rent one of the holiday homes or static caravans that are already onsite. Larger campsites in Lancashire, and right across the North West region, will often have a licensed bar in the club house, and may well provide onsite entertainment. This is true of large campsites in Cheshire.
Isle of Man camping is also highly recommended and there are various Isle of Man campsites to choose from should you wish to stay on this small north western island. These could well suit motorcyclists travelling to witness or take part in the legendary Isle of Man TT race or Manx Grand Prix.
You will normally find campsites, caravan parks or holiday parks of some description in most seaside resorts. There is a choice of campsites in Southport, which is one of the original seaside destinations dating back to the late 18th Century. For holiday parks Blackpool though is perhaps the premier location in the UK, with people choosing this affordable accommodation type in order that they can spend more money at attractions like the famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower.
For campsites Chester is an alternative location. This historic city has a significant Roman influence that is visible to this day, and is popular with historians and tourists alike. Chester resides within the boundaries of Cheshire, but elsewhere in the North West there are a number of caravan parks in Lancashire. Camping and caravanning in the North West is recommended to those on a budget, as well as to those wanting to enjoy a traditional British holiday.

Campsites in Cheshire and Isle of Man Camping: Caravan Parks & Campsites
Caravan parks and campsites (sometimes spelt camp sites) continue to thrive in the British tourism market. They are particularly appealing to families working to tight holiday budgets, who value the freedom and independence associated with this accommodation choice. There is also something unique about the camping experience, and children generally thrive in such an environment, where there is plenty of fun to be had. Were you to ask, we would imagine that many people who have since travelled to various places around the world would still list caravan holidays in Blackpool as amongst the best they had ever had, thanks to the unique, almost magical atmosphere.
Most caravan or Blackpool campsites will offer you a basic or serviced land pitch of a reasonable size, upon which you can pitch your caravan or motor home. You can also expect electric hook-ups, a toilet and shower block as well as washing facilities, chemical waste disposal, TV points, a phone, and finally a freezer and ice pack facility. Generally campsites reside in the countryside, and will feature a camp shop in which you will be able to purchase camping and caravan accessories like camping gas, cleaning chemicals and buckets. Further to this, there will likely be grocers and off-licenses at the campsites Lancashire offers, as well as at sites across the North West.
According to Caravan Club statistics, caravanning is now the single most popular holiday choice in the UK, accounting for 17% of all UK holiday spending. Caravan holidays offer the freedom to go wherever you please, at whatever time is convenient for you. There are a wide range of locations, in the North West and beyond. These can be found near to fantastic walking hotspots, beside the seaside, close to golf courses or perhaps near a historic site. Others can be found within nature reserves and alongside rivers and streams.
Were you to engage in caravan holidays on a regular basis, you might consider joining the UK Caravan Club. Find details at www.caravanclub.co.uk. Members can access all sorts of services including competitive insurance packages and reduced rates at caravan sites. They also provide advice on issues such as hiring both motor homes and caravans, as well as categorising campsites according to various facilities, as well as by location. As the Isle of Man falls outside of the UK however, you may not be able to gain information about Isle of Man caravan parks from the UK Caravan Club.
Campsites Chester, Campsites in Southport, Holiday Parks Blackpool
Your fun-filled holiday or weekend break can be experienced in chalets, bungalows, lodges, or perhaps in static caravans or under the canvas of a tent. There are certainly plenty of holiday parks in the North West to choose from, including the excellent Marton Mere Holiday Park near Blackpool. There are also a number of holiday parks and campsites, or camp sites, to be found on the North West coast, in brilliant family-friendly locations like Blackpool and Southport.
Blackpool holiday parks and holiday parks in general, are great for kids - who are kept busy by facilities like swimming pools and discos, with adults able to enjoy the bars, clubs and restaurants. There may also be facilities like fishing lakes and nature trails, although these might be dependent upon the location of the park itself. These locations are usually in one of two places - close to the coast, or in the countryside, although either way, they are normally within a stone's throw of a host of attractions and amenities. Family accommodations are often 4-6 birth and will include electric power and gas, bedding, as well as a fully equipped kitchen including an oven and fridge. There will also be a bathroom complete with shower, and often some parking facilities.
The majority of the entertainment facilities you are likely to encounter at a holiday or caravan park are likely to be free to use. The likes of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, crazy golf and pitch and putt, playgrounds, big screen TV's, as well as the use of football pitches and childrens rides and amusements could all potentially be available for no extra cost, although this will inevitably vary from park to park. You can also expect to find restaurants, as well as launderette washing and drying facilities and shops onsite, along with a licensed bar or club.
Blackpool Campsites, Caravan Parks in Lancashire - UK Grading
The AA now rate campsites and caravan parks in Yorkshire, and across the UK, using a five point scale. The Pennant ratings increase along with the quality and variety of facilities that a park will offer. They are keen to stress however, that these Pennant ratings reflect upon the touring pitches and facilities at camping or caravan parks, and not upon any rented static caravans or chalets.
There is also a separate category for 'Holiday Centres' that cater for all holiday needs and include a variety of onsite entertainment and catering facilities. A simple breakdown of the Pennant ratings for campsites and caravan parks from one to five is as follows:
1 Pennant - A simple standard of facilities. There will be adequate drinking water supply, and reasonable drainage. Chemical disposal arrangements will be provided.
2 Pennants - Generally better facilities, customer care, ground maintenance and services. Better washrooms and gender specific toilet facilities. A warden will be available at specified times during the day.
3 Pennants - Very good standard. Well maintained facilities and grounds. Attention to customer care and security. Laundry facilities available, along with modern toilet and shower facilities. Some electric hook-ups will be offered.
4 Pennants - Very high standard across all areas. There will be a park reception area and a warden available 24-7. At least half of all pitches will have an electrical hook-up. Shower cubicles are fully tiled and there will be some combined toilet-washing cubicles.
5 Pennant Premier Parks - Premier parks are of an extremely high standard and set in attractive surroundings. Electric hook-ups at most pitches, exceptional toilet/wash facilities, with great customer care and security. Man parks will have heated swimming pools, shops, cafes restaurants or bars.
For caravan sites Lake District is an alternative location, in which there are a number of 4 and 5 Pennant rated sites, as well as some that are rated lower, but which you can expect to be cheaper. Caravan parks in Devon, further down south are also extremely popular, and offer another alternative to campsites, caravan parks, and holiday parks in the North West.
