Blackpool Hotels, Manchester Hotels, North West
Blackpool hotels come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as do hotels right across the North West. There are also stylistic differences between hotels in the region which are often determined by the location, whilst such differences are reflected in the variation in prices. Hotel accommodation provides a guaranteed service with standard facilities, a reception and not forgetting the opportunity to call room service! Some large Manchester hotels, and Liverpool hotels, as well as large hotels in the North West generally, are run by groups and the same standard of service and facilities are offered across all hotels in the group. Some Chester hotels belong to this category, although if you didn't want to visit Chester, there are plenty of other Cheshire hotels with rooms available. There are also a number of privately run hotels in the North West, which usually provide a more personalised experience and potentially even a little more in the way of historic character. Some Isle of Man hotels and particularly Victorian Douglas hotels are testament to this.
Morecambe hotels as well as Southport hotels on the coast, offer the opportunity to enjoy a traditional British seaside holiday. These are alternatives to the most famous of seaside resorts - Blackpool. There are a seemingly infinite number of hotels in Blackpool offering the opportunity to see the Blackpool lights, pleasure beach and tower, as well as all of the other Blackpool attractions on offer.
You should be aware of the type of hotel that you would like to opt for before beginning your search. Perhaps you were hoping for a romantic hotel break with on-site restaurant, or a business hotel venue with excellent conference facilities? Maybe a countryside hotel with beautiful surroundings - ideal for a wedding perhaps - or a town or city centre hotel close to bars, clubs, pubs, museums and the like? Whatever type of hotel you desire; there are plenty of choices in the North West.

Manchester Hotels in Manchester
Manchester is a rapidly developing city and has the accommodation to match. There are other Manchester's across the globe, but for Manchester England hotels iknow-UK has many listings that are just a click away. There are also many Hilton Hotels across the world and none better than the Hilton Hotel Manchester hosts. Furthermore there are hotels near to the Old Trafford football and cricket grounds, as well as close to the Trafford Centre, and all over Manchester. Location can, of course, influence the price, whilst the season (peak or low) as well as time that the booking was made also have an effect in this regard. Obviously the major factor in determining the cost is the star rating - generally the higher the rating, the greater the cost.
Chester Hotels in Chester
Chester is a great place to stay for a holiday, particularly for those who are interested in Roman history - the city walls and gates are actually based upon a layout created by the Romans nearly two thousand years ago! As such there are a seemingly infinite number of Isle of Man hotels. These are found across the island although there are more Douglas hotels than anywhere else, with Douglas of course being the Capital of the Isle of Man and as such is the hub of entertainment on the island. Hotels in Blackpool, North West: Types and Size
The larger hotel groups are generally found in major cities and towns in the North West. Many hotels in Manchester are part of an established chain, whilst for large hotels Liverpool is well stocked. These major North West cities are full of the shops and attractions that you would expect, whilst both are continuing to grow. Large hotels will have more than 50 rooms and generally belong to hotel groups as opposed to being privately owned. You know what to expect from these consortia's and importantly they know what to expect from you, having the benefit of experience across all of their hotels. With large hotels, you can often benefit from discount deals, or voucher and points schemes which are particularly useful for frequent business guests, or if you take weekend breaks. In luxury large North West hotels, expect extensive leisure, health and beauty facilities - with the obligatory indoor swimming pool, conference facilities, in-house entertainment, internet access, staffed 24 hour reception service, plus good disabled access with lifts to all floors and often rooms that have been specially adapted for disabled guests.
Medium sized Lancashire hotels and others in the North West usually have between 20 and 50 rooms and with large and medium hotels there are more services such as staffed reception, room service, sometimes in-house entertainment, as well as some leisure facilities. As hotels become larger, the decor generally becomes more uniform, which may be suitable for conference events. Medium hotels are often privately owned, although equally there may be medium sized hotels that belong to a chain.
Small Wigan hotels and small hotels in general, will have less than twenty rooms. As such they have more of a guest house feel about them, where you are afforded a little more attention but still have access to the standard amenities of a hotel, including in-house bar and restaurant service. Hotels of this size are almost exclusively family-run, and offer a more relaxed atmosphere than larger hotels. In Blackpool why not try one of the following hotels: Cliffs Hotel Blackpool, Claremont Hotel Blackpool, Viking Hotel Blackpool?
Manchester Airport Hotels & Liverpool Airport Hotels
Airport hotels can serve a functional purpose. If you are on a long-haul flight, or your plane has been delayed then these hotels allow you to take a break from the stresses of travelling (or not travelling as the case may be!). Many Manchester Airport hotels are located very close to the main terminal buildings and prices are often quite reasonable. There are also a number of hotels near Manchester Airport like the Britannia Country House Hotel in Didsbury. Booking in advance can potentially lower the cost, whilst conversely booking a Manchester Airport hotel at the last minute can be expensive. There are a significant number of Liverpool Airport hotels too, which are also conveniently located nearby the main terminal building.
Manchester England Hotels: Star Ratings System
In England we now have an amalgamated rating system for accommodations. For hotels the star rating system applies and whether VisitBritain or the AA are awarding star ratings, they all follow the same criteria outlined below. Scotland and Wales hotels are accredited by VisitScotland and VisitWales, respectively. The Star rating system involves giving ratings of between one and five stars. The rating is based upon issues of quality, including customer care, the range of services available, and the variety and standard of facilities.
As a basic minimum the one-star hotel has guaranteed that the majority of bedrooms have en-suite or private facilities. For those rare five star hotels, guests are assured of luxurious and spacious accommodation to the highest standards of international quality, accompanied by excellent service and superior cuisine. A hotel with a two star rating will include all the criteria of a one star hotel, and more, and a three star hotel will include all two star hotel services plus extras and so forth. When you see a star rating you know that the hotel has been visited overnight and anonymously by qualified inspectors working to the same high standards, making it easier for you to identify quality accommodation you can trust. Below is a simple breakdown of what you can expect in hotels of between 1 and 5 stars.
Liverpool Hotels: 1-2 Star Ratings
1 * - The majority of rooms are en-suite. There is a designated eating area that serves breakfast daily, and dinner most nights. Staff provide an informal but competent service.
2* - All rooms en-suite or have private facilities. A dining room or restaurant will serve breakfast every day and dinner most evenings.
Isle of Man Hotels, Douglas Hotels: 3-4 Star Ratings
3* - Staff are well presented. All rooms are en-suite and the dining room/restaurant is open to residents and non-residents alike.
4* - Staff wear uniform and respond to your every need. There are usually well-appointed public areas. Again the restaurant or dining room is open to both residents and non-residents, whilst lunch is also available in a designated eating area.
Hotels in Chester, Morecambe Hotels: 5 Star Ratings
5* - Luxurious accommodation and public areas. A multilingual service will be available, as well as a range of additional facilities. Guests will be greeted at the entrance, and the restaurant will have a high class menu complete with wine list.
As a general rule, higher rated hotels will be larger, with larger public spaces and rooms, and all round improved quality and service. Better rated hotels will be more comfortable, whilst staff are likely to be more receptive to their guests needs. Individuality will pertain to five star hotels, with each room likely to have its own individual appeal and style. Generally speaking, the quality of food will improve along with the star rating too.
Alternative Hotel Destinations
There are, of course, a number of alternative holidaying destinations to the North West. There are, for example, plenty of Yorkshire hotels for those wanting to stray to the east and visit cities like Leeds and York (there are loads of York hotels!), or to venture into the countryside. Another hugely popular countryside destination is the Lake District, and there are literally hundreds of Lake District hotels giving access to places like Windermere and Keswick. If you were feeling adventurous you could even venture out of England and into Wales, where there are plenty of Wales hotels in places like Cardiff and Llandudno.
