Pub Accommodation in the North West

For an inn Manchester is a particularly popular location, although there is no shortage of pub and inn accommodation across the entire North West region. There is no formal distinction between a Liverpool Inn and a Liverpool Pub, although generally Inns are more long-lived establishments.

There are actually a number of terms for these types of accommodation that are used almost interchangeably, and it is difficult to define each. Lodges, for example, are maybe closer to cottages or cabins in style, rather than pubs and inns, although the term lodge is fairly ambiguous.

A Manchester lodge is another potential option for someone wanting to stay in this busy, rapidly expanding city. Both Manchester and Liverpool have in fact grown considerably in the last few years, with Liverpool in particular benefitting from its status as 2008 European Capital of Culture. For a holiday lodge Liverpool is an alternative destination.

Pubs are better known as somewhere that people gather to drink as opposed to places of accommodation, but many pubs do offer rooms in which a limited number of guests can stay. You might find a Manchester pub that has rooms in which guests can stay for a night or two, or perhaps longer. Inns are perhaps more likely to offer accommodation than pubs, taverns and alehouses, so for those wanting to visit a North West seaside resort, why not try a Blackpool Inn?

A Blackpool lodge is another alternative, whilst others may wish to play it safe by staying in one of the many Blackpool hotels. With Blackpool's reputation as one of the liveliest and exciting holiday destinations in the UK, it is no surprise to learn that there are no shortage of Blackpool pubs too!

The North West is particularly well served by pub and inn accommodation in rural countryside areas. There are many Cheshire pubs, and for an inn Cheshire will not disappoint either. You will also find plenty of accommodation of this type in the Ribble Valley and the Wirral, whilst there are many Lancashire pubs that serve as a place to stay as well as a watering hole.

Pub Accommodation in Blackpool and Liverpool

There are a large number of pubs and inns across the North West region, and these range from old stone inns to country inns and coaching houses, all of which retain many historic features, like traditional log fires, for example. Normally such establishments will offer a mouth watering pub menu of homemade food, with Sunday roasts usually fairly spectacular! Many of these traditional pubs and inns will have traditional real ales to match.

Public houses, like B&B's, are normally family-run, and offer a personal and individual service. You can expect a warm welcome and homely environment in pubs and inns across the region. Pubs in Cheshire are generally of a high standard, whilst superb country inns can be found in towns like Rochdale and Oldham in Greater Manchester, and in Cheshire itself around Macclesfield and Congleton. Why not stay at, and try the real ale in a Cheshire lodge!?

Pubs in Lancashire and Cheshire

Pub and inn accommodation in the North West is guaranteed to have real character and charm, whilst if you are a fan of real ale and particularly that of Lancashire and Cheshire then you shall not be disappointed. Most country inns and English pubs will offer a bed and breakfast service, and you can expect a hearty full English should this be your breakfast of choice. The food and drink in pubs and inns should be of a high standard as they are generally regarded to be specialists in these areas, rather than in accommodation, which is usually secondary.

The Real Ale Campaign (CAMRA)

CAMRA is the Campaign for Real Ale. They are an independent, voluntary organisation with in excess of 95,000 members. CAMRA promotes high quality real ale and pubs, and so if you want to book into a pub or inn and enjoy real ale yourself, then you should visit their website first.

The North West is spoilt with its selection of pubs and inns, although there are also plenty of Lake District lodges for those wanting to visit the likes of Windermere, Keswick and Kendal. Another possible alternative is to visit and stay at one of the many Yorkshire pubs that offer accommodation. These can be found in cities like Leeds and Sheffield, or along the coast at Scarborough and Whitby to name but a few examples. A final consideration might be to stray outside of England and into Wales, with Cardiff pubs popular with locals and tourists alike.
