'With my little stick of Blackpool Rock, along the promenade I stroll, In the ballroom I went dancing each night, No wonder every girl that danced with me, stuck to me tight''. (George Formby, 'Blackpool Rock (With My Little Stick Of), 1937)

Blackpool is brash, it's bold, it's burlesque, it's budget, it's quite simply where it's happening in the North West. Once bitten you'll be back - it pulls you in Blackpool and from many different angles depending on your preference. What's on offer if you need to be reminded - three fantastic piers crammed with rides, bars and cafes, Pleasure Beach quite simply one of the best amusement parks in the country, the legendary Tower Ballroom and Blackpool Tower, the beautiful Victorian Grand Theatre, endless sandy beaches fringed by a promenade now with 'glamorous' sculpture trail and of course the annual Blackpool Illuminations and that nightlife - live it, love it and let it get in your soul! Blackpool Prom, Blackpool Illuminations and Blackpool History - Wakes Weeks

'I've just been on my holidays, to Blackpool by the sea, Although I'm feeling mighty fit my feet are troubling me. I've queued for hours and hours but I must say it was grand, To get as near as half a mile to several miles of Sand''. (Blackpool Prom)

Do you like to walk? I hope so if you're coming to Blackpool and the prom, taking in the Golden Mile, goes on and on and on. It's been a strutting ground for many a holiday maker past, and Blackpool prom still bears many of it's Victorian marks particularly around the North Shore area.

Move up to the end of South Shore for a uniquely intriguing and 'very Blackpool' sculpture trail - favourites include the brilliant 'Disco Ball' and the 'Glam Rocks'.

Blackpool Illuminations were first produced in 1912 and have evolved as the perfect solution in extending the seaside summer season.

Blackpool South Shore - Pleasure Beach - it's the big one!

South Shore again is crammed with pubs, clubs, casinos and it's own pier again. Great family fun area of Blackpool.

Keep going further South along the coast and you'll end up in Lytham St Annes, with it's beautiful salt marshed coastline, daft windmill and quieter prom with award winning beach.

Blackpool - North Shore & one of the best Gay Scene's in the Country

Blackpool North Shore can be quiet, or it can be bold. Move up towards the Bispham end of North Shore for a quieter feel, the most beautiful stretch of the prom, or move closer to Blackpool Centre at the top end of North Shore for one of the best gay scenes in the country - eat your heart out Brighton! Check out the Grundy Art Gallery, the stunning Victorian Grand Theatre, the legendary Winter Gardens and some of the best restaurants in Blackpool on Queen Street - Middle of the Earth has to be one of the best! Nothing beats the nightlife in this area - it's a vibrant gay scene giving North Shore a real edge - 'you must help me to be sensible'…

Take a stroll to the end of North Pier (the oldest of the three piers) for the best views of Blackpool Tower and the fabulous Victorian Carousel at the end, and you'll need ya bag of rotten eggs to pop into the 'Merry England' bar to pelt Bernard Manning with!
