The North West is fast developing it's very own gay trail - at the core has to be Blackpool's fabulous gay scene. The warm and open atmosphere in this area of Blackpool, primarily around Queen Street and Talbot Square, is attracting thousands of gay and straight visitors every year. Numerous clubs, bars, cafes and restaurants cram the area, making for an electric atmosphere - but ample choice between quieter restaurant or outrageous clubbing, whatever your bag. The Grand Theatre

The beautiful Victorian Grand Theatre in Blackpool's North shore was opened in 1894 and is a Grade II listed building. Thanks to it's friends it was saved from demolition and stands now as one of the most beautiful theatres in the country. The interior circular decor is magical. The Grand offers a diverse range of shows from dance, plays, opera, musicals and concerts.

Fleetwood & The Fleetwood Museum - move up further North along the coast if there's time!

Take time to travel up the coast a bit further, the trams run all the way up to Fleetwood, to enjoy the beautiful Fleetwood coastline. Fleetwood boasts two lighthouses - upper and lower - and the brilliant Fleetwood Museum is a must visit to discover the history of the area, focusing particularly on the fishing industry. The Fleetwood Museum is housed in what was the original customs house, designed by Decimus Burton, a famous 19th century architect noted for his neo-classical architecture. His mark is on the design of the whole town.

Fleetwood has been famous for it's fishing industry, with trawlers from Fleetwood getting as far as the Arctic seas. Learn about local people who worked in the industry, which stretches all the way up to Morecambe.
