Boosted now by the Capital of Culture 08 year opening of the mammoth Liverpool One Shopping Centre just across from Albert Dock, Liverpool is a city offering a huge range of shopping choice from designer to vintage, quirky independent clothing, a huge choice of shopping centres and arts and crafts shopping.
Liverpool's shopping centres and hotspots are within easy walking distance of each other in the city centre. On the waterfront, the Albert Dock plays host to a fine choice of arts and crafts shops, gifts and souvenirs and art shops, notably the Tate Liverpool on-site art shop. Just off the waterfront near the Albert and Canning Dock, Liverpool's brand new huge modern shopping centre - Liverpool One opens May 08. Liverpool One is shopping come entertainment centre and will offer some of the biggest clothing highstreet and designer names alongside Odeon cinema, cafes and restaurants. Liverpool boasts a choice of shopping centres including budget favourite St John's Shopping Centre near Lime Street Station, the Met Quarter at Whitechapel and Clayton Square Shopping Centre just opposite Central Station.
Liverpool's vintage shops are dotted about the city. Favourites include reasonably priced Pop Boutique on Whitechapel, new face Bulletproof on Hardmen Street and old favourites like the Liverpool Palace on Slater Street. The hotly awaited Liverpool One Shopping Centre just off the waterfront opens its doors end of May 08. Store listings are impressive indeed - for fashion fans American Apparel, Urban Outfitters, Reiss, Jigsaw, All Saints, New Look, Zara, Oasis and more will be here alongside banks, a 14 screen Odeon cinema and choice of cafes and restaurants plus new hotels and luxury apartments. A choice of well established shopping centres have long sat in Liverpool City Centre. The centrally placed Metquarter shopping centre sits on Whitechapel, a short walk from Lime Street Station. The favourite glass covered Clayton Square Shopping Centre sits right in the heart of the city centre and offers a choice of highstreet names including Virgin Megastore, Boots, Principles and Disney Store.
St Johns Shopping Centre sits just near the Post Office tower and Lime Street, and offers a host of favourite budget name shopping including Claires accessories, Card Factory, Fashion Foods, Farmfoods, Fashion clearance outlets and more. The Cavern Quarter including Cavern Walks on Mathew Street is Liverpool's hub for top quirky designer names as well as all things Beatles. Included in Cavern Walks are Vivienne Westwood, Drome Women, Boudoir Boutique, Kids Cavern and pop into the Lucy in the Sky Beatles cafe.
Other high fashion designer Liverpool hotspots include the Bold Street area and you'll be finding a few big names in the new Liverpool One shopping centre including Karen Millen. The Albert Dock is also rather a hub for designer independents including designer florists, select gifts and arts and crafts.
