World of Glass, The Sankey Canal & the Northwest Museum of Road Transport St Helens
Top family attraction 'The World of Glass' in St Helens boasts live glassblowing demonstrations, cutting edge media shows, underground tunnels, a children's play area and on-site gift shop and cafe. The attraction is well placed in St Helens, once an international capital for glass production. A Victorian cone house is within the attraction and you can cross England's first canal - The Sankey which was carrying coal by 1757. Recently refurbished throughout, the North West Museum of Road Transport in St Helens is open every Saturday and Sunday. Based in the former St Helens Corporation Transport bus depot on Hall Street just a short walk from St Helens bus station and railway station, the museums contains a superb collection of vintage buses, trams and other vehicles.
