Bolton Lancashire has so many attractions, and exciting new venues like the Reebok Stadium, home of Bolton Wanders, on offer and it's close to Manchester with excellent transport networks. Bolton attractions on offer include family centres like Animal World and the Butterfly House, Barrow Bridge Village, Bolton Museum, Art Gallery and Aquarium, and Halli'th'Wood. Check out local history at Horwich Heritage Centre or explore the many specialist shops and leisure facilities at the delightful Last Drop Village. There's many a new and exciting venue at Bolton including the Middlebrook Leisure and Retail Park, and if you love football there's the monumental Reebok Stadium Museum and Tour Centre, home of course to one of the UK's oldest football teams, Bolton. Other family attractions also include Smithills Hall and Smithills Open Farm and the Valley Centertainment. We haven't mentioned the local Pennine countryside, perfect for walkers and outdoor pursuits. Jumbles Country Park offers a variety of outdoor activities like walking, fishing and is the perfect picnic spot. Check out also Lever Park in Rivington on the edge of the West Pennines. Bolton Leisure, Sports and Country Parks

Bolton Lancashire is a real centre for both outdoor and indoor leisure activities. Bolton sits on the edge of the West Pennines, so benefits from some excellent walking country. Jumbles Country Park is one of the best known parks in the area and it sits on the southern fringe of the West Pennine Moors. Facilities in the park are numerous and include a reservoir which has facilities for fishing, walking and picnicking, as well as refreshments and toilets. Opening Times from April to October are Wednesday and Saturday 1.00pm-5.00pm. Sunday and Bank Holidays are 10.00am-5.00pm. October to April times are Sunday only from 11.00am-4.00pm. Another extremely popular park in Bolton, which includes the renowned Rivington Pike is Lever Park, Rivington. This country park is set within the West Pennine Moors, and consists of an exquisite moorland area of 90 square miles. The park and reservoir have facilities for fishing, walking and picnicking,. There is also an arboretum, pinetum, refreshments and toilets. There's some oddities here as well, including the remains of Lord Leverhulme's gardens, two cruck barns, the ruined replica of Liverpool Castle and Rivington Pike of course which is not to be missed by keen walkers! Opening Times are Wednesday-Sunday and Bank Holidays, 10.30am-5.00pm.

Check out also Smithills Country Park right in the heart of 2,000 acres of woodland, farmland and moorland, again on the edge of the West Pennine Moors. For panoramic views of Bolton you can't do better than head upto Smithills Country Park. You can tap into some great self-guided tours around the park as well, with leaflets available on four tours. If you're a school or group, Countryside Rangers are available to help, and give advice on the area. In the park as well is Smithills Hall, Smithills open farm, and Smithills Coaching House restaurant. This is a Bolton park with lots of amenities on-site!
