A more accessible Airport in terms of routes in and out, you are not likely to find. Junction 5 off the M56, it's own railway station, regular buses from Manchester City Centre, direct metro route from Manchester, National Express port at the Airport - it's all there. And once you arrive, even straight off by car at junction 5, all terminals are well marked. Manchester Airport seems to combine the capacity of a big airport, with the friendliness of simplicity. It's constantly improving as well, and plans for new banners next to Terminal signs to illustrate which airline is based in which terminal will make it even easier.

Manchester Airport by Rail
Manchester Airport has it's very own station, and it's easily accessed through sky links (moving walkways) which connect all three terminals. The station has it's own travel centre packed with information and of course facility to buy tickets. Trekkers Cafe is also located at the station for refreshments.
Connections to Manchester Airport Station are available from most Northern England stations including Sheffield, York, Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester, Bolton, Preston and Blackpool and run through the night. For passengers coming to the airport from outside the North, connections to Manchester Airport are best made from Manchester Piccadilly.

Manchester Airport by Road
Off at Junction 5, M56 - the M56 is easily accessed from the M6 and other motorway networks. Once off at Junction 5, just follow the cube colour signs, i.e. T3, or T1 & T2 (Terminal 1 & 2 take you one way, Terminal 3 takes you another!). Car parks, long and short stay, are also well signposted.
Even if you follow the Terminal 3 signs, when you wanted Terminal 1 don't panic it's easily corrected and you can just go round a roundabout once again.
Drop off points at Departure areas for each terminal are also clearly marked if you just want to 'deposit' someone without parking! If you're collecting people, it's best to park up as Arrival pick up points can be very congested with taxis and so forth.
Parking prices are not cheap - for two hours it works out about £5. If you forget to bring cash there are cash points dotted around, particularly in arrival ports I found. Also, car park paying machines accept credit cards and Euros.
Manchester Airport by Coach & Bus
National Express coaches have a base at Manchester Airport station, and run long-distance services to the airport from starting points such as Blackpool, Liverpool, Preston, Glasgow, Inverness, Milton Keynes and more. Nearly all coaches have toilets, large relaxing seats and washroom facilities for passengers' comfort and convenience.

At Terminal 2, Tourist Information Centre in the Arrivals Hall open 07.30 - 12.30 daily. Terminal 3, please use Terminal 1 facilities (Terminal 3 is situated alongside Terminal 1).
Bus services to Manchester Airport couldn't be better - frequent and running from most surrounding towns including Disbury, Northenden, Altrincham, Hale, Stockport and Manchester City Centre into the airport it's a very cost effective way of getting into the Airport. The 43A service, which begins in Manchester City Centre and runs down through Northenden, runs every 10 minutes and the X69 service from Stockport misses out the Wythenshawe stop on the first four early morning runs during weekdays, making the route much more direct. All buses stop and pick up from The Station at Manchester Airport, which is fast becoming the Transport Interchange with plans afoot for more catering services and general amenities. The Station Travel Interchange is conveniently located between Terminal 1 and 2.

Metrolink to Manchester Airport
Plans are afoot to establish a Metro stop/link to Manchester Airport. At the present time the service only runs as far as Altrincham to the south. Still something to watch out for in the future, plus if you purchase a rail ticket from Manchester Airport to any Manchester city centre stations (Piccadilly, Oxford Road, Deansgate and Victoria), it's a 'Manchester Central Zone' ticket which entitles you to travel by train into Manchester and on the Metrolink within the central fare zone (between Victoria, G-Mex and Piccadilly).
