Musicals, drama and even an evening with Fred Dibnah (god help us) if that's your cup of tea - it's all here in the spectacular setting of the Opera House. This Neo-Greek styled theatre dates back to 1912 and was originally called the New Theatre, renamed the Opera House in 1920. From 1979 to 1984 it had a brief spell as a bingo hall - Clicketty click 66 - A duck and a flea 23 - but thankfully it returned to it's former glory! Mind you I bet it made a great bingo hall - anyway up 69!

After its renovation in 1913, supervised by the renowned theatre architect, Bertie Crew who also designed the Lyceum Theatre (1904). In the early 20th century it was mostly music hall stars that packed this theatre, but it has changed with the times support with exuberant musicals and pantomime in the 1920s/30s, into cutting edge drama like 'Don't Look Back in Anger' in the 1950s/60s. Now, after another refurbishment and extension work in the 1980s, it hosts prestigious companies such as the Covent Garden Opera and Kirov Ballet, and of course all the big musicals and London shows.
